Job Overview:
As a Terraform Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate the management of the company's cloud-based and on-premises resources. Your role involves the use of HashiCorp's Terraform, a widely-used tool for building, changing, and versioning infrastructure efficiently. You will collaborate closely with teams across the organization to ensure the infrastructure meets their requirements and supports their work effectively.
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure as Code Implementation: Design and implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform. Develop and maintain Terraform scripts to manage the company's infrastructure resources.
Cloud and On-premise Infrastructure Automation: Automate the provisioning and management of the organization's cloud-based (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on-premises infrastructure.
Configuration Management: Manage infrastructure configurations using Terraform. Ensure all configurations meet the organization's standards and policies.
Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to understand their infrastructure needs. Provide them with guidance and support on using the infrastructure.
Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the infrastructure and the Terraform environment.
Security & Compliance: Ensure the infrastructure managed by Terraform meets the organization's security requirements and complies with relevant regulations.
Documentation & Reporting: Document all Terraform configurations, scripts, and procedures. Prepare regular reports on infrastructure usage, performance, and compliance.
Training & Mentoring: Train and mentor other IT staff in the use of Terraform and the principles of infrastructure as code.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in IT, with at least 3 years of experience in managing cloud and/or on-premises infrastructure. Significant experience with Terraform is essential.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Terraform and its components. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Linux system administration, shell scripting, and networking. Knowledge of other infrastructure as code tools (like Ansible, Chef, Puppet) is a plus.
Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements: Depending on the specific role and location, this may involve working in a data center environment and handling heavy equipment.
Other: Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and to travel, as needed.
